KByou.com is the internal Human Resources system for KB Home, one of the largest homebuilders in America. kbyou.com is used for training as well as maintaining communication standards across all of KB Home's divisions. While working with KB Home to develop their corporate web site, we were made aware of their need for an effective way for their workforce to stay informed and trained. Brainfood was able to develop an entire intranet and online training system using our cutting-edge technologies. Custom technology components were integrated into the system to easily meet the needs of KB Home to create an effective and efficient online training system: kbyou.com.
We developed a complete training system that utilized KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to guarantee that the field training materials were effective. The admistrator interface allows management to monitor and track employees' progress down to the question level. By monitoring user performance, the administrator can optimize and update the curriculum as needed. For example, if a particular question is being missed by 97% of the trainees, the administrator may want to rephrase or adjust the question, or try to present the information using a different approach.
Beyond the training framework, Brainfood also helped create a vast library of customized training modules. These learning modules are automatically tied into the training system to create an interactive learning environment for the trainee. The modules leverage Macromedia's Flash Player to add a dynamic frontend to complement the custom programming on the inside.
Results have been extremely positive with high retention rates and improved performance in the field. kbyou.com has saved over $2,000,000 in annual overhead, management and training costs. The site delivers over 20,000 tests per month to over 3,000 employees. kbyou.com has also caused a significant increase in the number of certified employees. To date, over 80 percent of KB Home employees have been trained and certified on the kbyou.com system. The system provides a whole new way of training the user and communicating consistently with all of the KB Home divisions.
